How to Set Up the Shyft DualRide Accessory Base

Quick answer

Install the Shyft DualRide Accessory Base by securing it with your vehicle's seat belt or LATCH system, then check for a tight fit before clicking in the infant car seat.

Setup steps

1. Position the base: Place the Accessory Base on your vehicle seat facing the correct direction (rear-facing only). Ensure the base sits flat against the seat cushion.
2. Route the seat belt or LATCH strap: Thread the vehicle seat belt or LATCH strap through the base's belt path as shown in the manual. Avoid twisting the strap. A twisted strap can prevent a tight fit.
3. Tighten until snug: Pull the loose end of the belt or strap to remove slack. Push down on the base with your knee while tightening to get the best grip. The base should not move more than 1 inch side-to-side when tested at the belt path.
4. Lock the belt (if using seat belt): Engage the vehicle seat belt's lock-off mechanism or use the locking clip if your belt has a switchable retractor. Follow your vehicle owner's manual. A locked belt prevents the base from loosening during travel.
5. Click in the car seat: Lower the Shyft DualRide Infant Car Seat onto the base until you hear a click. Pull up on the seat to confirm it is locked. Check that the seat's level indicator shows the correct angle for your child's weight.
